Britains Got Talent

Having travelled and spoken to lots of expats over the last few months I have been enlightened as to the reasons why people move away from the comforts of their home and family to work abroad. The thought is daunting to say the very least ...moving personal effects, settling in to a new home, a new town, not least a new place of work. So what makes people want to 'up and go'? For some whom i have spoken to it was for a better life, especially where children were concerned, the quality of what life overseas can provide growing youngsters was certainly high on the check list. But what was so noticable was the fact that the majority just couldn't see a career here in the U.K.Why would that be? The training they had received was certainly sufficient to be appealing to overseas employers so why not employers in the UK? Basically it was down to the perceived lack of growth in the UK market place..a pitfall from having been in recession ( followed by another recession before we realised that the first one had subsided?) for what seems to have been an eternity. The fall in interest rates only helps those within the housing market to retain their home but it doesn't help those who can't afford to buy a home in the first instance. So not a plus for everyone then! Very little investment has been paid into the work place and businesses have had to carefully manage cashflow which undoubtably means having a careful eye on staffing and resources..consequently growth and career opportunities. So yes Britain has got talent, but it is only being recognised by keen eye companies from overseas: and who can blame them!
